HOLA BRITAIN,
NAMASTE.
As a piece that started as a discussion with friend and fellow artist, Valerie Andrews, about the lack of representation for South Asian and Latin American communities in the arts in scotland, we would never have thought post pandemic that we would be creating a show about our experiences.
This piece went into a discussion and became a new work in progress as we then not only had a performative side but also an academic side.
We had 2 academics come in and eahc workshop they did a discussion on South Asian/Latin American representation and we had members of those communities come and have discussions which fed into our performance the following week.
The piece looked at immigration rooms, stereotypes in western culture such as Shakira and Gandhi, we looked at Cuisines and also how to take care of yourself.
This show was originally looked at for theatre but there are other avenues such as educational aspects.
This was a new work in progress that was supported by the Tramway Supports Residency.
