Jalebi

“Jalebi” was a piece written during Sanjay’s time on the Soho Theatre Writers’ Lab, during the 2020 Pandemic.

This was a piece that originated as his degree show “Mein Kaun Hoo (Who Am I?)” but “Jalebi” became a play that looked at the themes of the negative voices within our heads and the trauma related to over apologising.

The piece is a semi autobiographical piece that takes moments in the writers life and shapes them into this play.

The Writers’ Lab was a great platform for Sanjay’s writing and he ended the Lab with “Jalebi” being Longlisted for the top 10 for the Tony Craze Playwrighting Award.

The piece in 2021 was also shared as part of the Writers Corner sharing for new writers, thanks to writer Winnie Arhin. This piece was performed by Sanjay and Valerie Andrews.
