Goodbye Colour

8th/9th February 2017, RCS Wallace Studios

“Goodbye Colour” was a newly devised piece for RCS Bridge Week 2017. The piece looked at themes of acceptance and belonging in a society post Brexit. It was a collaborative piece with the ensemble consisting of Musicians and Actors from a range of courses at RCS, from Vocal Performance to Musical theatre to Composition.

The piece consisted of re-enactments of attacks that artist Sanjay Lago has suffered and people close to him. From original poetry, dance and song to Artist Sanjay changing his skin to white, this is a performance that shows the lengths one individual would go to, so that they could fit in. Looking at Women of Colour, Fitting in and White Privilege, this is a performance of many layers looking at one person’s voice of many people’s story.

Alongside Sanjay, The cast included friends and artists from a wide range of courses, they were :

Helen Frances Corlett (assistant director & vocalist) / Abigail Stephenson, Andris Horvath, Peter Horvath (Performers) , Bea Webster (Actor/BSL) / Rylan Gleave & Crystalla Serghiou (Composers) / Annabella Ellis, Anne-Marie Loveday-Hill (vocalists) / Morgan Shaw (Director of photography) / JP Pezet (Editor) / James Hamilton (Lighting Advisor) / Tahmid Rahman (Guest Poet) / Gabriel Greenough (Photographer) / William Parker, Kenneth Dunlop, Martin Daskalov, Etienne Bartholomew & Meredith Hudock (Musicians) / K.Yvonne Strain ( Interpreter)
